Temporal Bone Surgical Dissection Course
 


 
Emory University Department of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery offers an intensive five-day Temporal Bone Dissection Course covering in detail the anatomy of the temporal bone, and all aspects of otologic and neurotologic surgery. Department Faculty will present daily lectures and laboratory instructions. Distinguished Guest Faculty will demonstrate surgical techniques and supervise personal drilling.

Laboratory Design and Equipment:

  A twelve-station state-of-the-art surgical dissection laboratory has been designed for use by many specialty and subspecialty surgical disciplines including otologic, sinus, laryngeal, dental, maxillofacial, neurosurgical, dermatologic, orthopedic, vascular and ophthalmologic. Each laboratory station is equipped with Global surgical microscopes with wide screen flat video monitors, high speed Anspach drilling system, Medtronic surgical instruments and outlets for suction and water.

 Course Objectives: 

  This intensive 5-day temporal bone dissection course is relevant to the otologic surgeon and resident. Participants will:

  • Review surgical anatomy of the temporal bone.
  • Explore current concepts in the surgical management of ear disease.

 

Curriculum:

  Emphasis will be placed upon temporal bone drilling. Temporal bone surgical technique will address chronic ear disease, stapedectomy, facial nerve exposure, vestibular surgery, internal auditory canal dissection, labyrinthectomy, intact canal wall down mastoidectomy, as well as endolymphatic sac surgery.

 

Tuition:

The registration fees include continental breakfast, refreshments, luncheons, course materials and use of laboratory equipment and supplies.

Physicians: $1500

Residents & fellows: $1200 (with letter from program director*)

   An administration fee of $300 will be retained for any cancellation, regardless of timing. Only one-half of the fee will be returned for cancellations made less than two weeks prior to the course start date. No refund will be made once the course has started.
